As with all of our sprint races, we will provide and you must use our inflatable Sevylor kayaks, double blade paddles and pfd's (life jackets).  We don't provide seats, so if you don't already have your own boat seats,  we will bring plenty of Sevy seats that go with the boats for sale at $15 each. The seats are worth it if you think you will do any of the remaining races in the series, as they give your back support, and get you up a little higher in the inflatable canoes.  Alternatively, you can use a 1Ú2 inflated  beach ball.  If you are racing the Clydesdale division (combined weight >400), you will be given 2 boats to race in rather than one and you may bring your own type III non inflatable coast guard approves pfds, or use one of our new XL Jackets.

You will be starting the race on foot. There may be mystery events at various points within the race where you will need to do certain activities or obtain an object to bring to the finish line.  Pay attention, or you will find yourself at the finish line without the proper object, resulting in a time penalty.   The paddle is on a small, calm lake and is usually the shortest paddle of the year.  We may also paddle on the river, if the conditions allow it.  The mountain biking is a combination of jeep trails and single track.  Beginners can see approaching technical sections marked by extra ribbon and should choose to dismount and run through these sections.  We will mark intersecting turns and technical sections with multiple ribbons.

Updated rules for 2008 are on the website, so please take a minute to check them out: Rules

You may also pick up your packets on race morning at Camp Carter YMCA from 6:45 am to 8:30 am, June 28th (we bumped up checkin to insure the race starts on time).  The pre-race meeting is at 8:30 am and the race starts at 9:00 am sharp!.  Please allow yourself enough time in the morning to arrive and set up your transition area.  The transition area is first come, first serve as to where you pick you spot to lay out your gear.  You can bring a quick-up tent, a blanket, or tarp, or just lay your stuff on the ground.  You will see racers doing all sorts of stuff.  You should have room for coolers and chairs and your gear bags/boxes if you want those. Plan to be racing/having fun for 2-3.5 hours.  There is no outside support allowed in the transition area.  You must be self-sufficient, including your water or liquids on the course.  We recommend you have a means of carrying 32 oz. of hydrating liquids during the race.

Camping: There are air-conditioned cabins with showers and bathrooms on site where you can get a bed for $20 per person per night.  Call to reserve a bed 817-738-9241.  You must bring your own bedding (sheets, blanket, pillow or sleeping bag).  Check in is Friday night around 7:30 pm.  You are welcome to pre-ride during the day on Friday, but the cabins will not be available until the last of the campers leave around 7:00 pm. The cabins are dorm style with 24 bunks to a dorm.

Looks like it's shaping up to be another fantastic race day so good luck in your preparations.  We're looking forward to seeing you this weekend!  If you have questions, or need us after Wednesday, we will be on our cell phones.
