Eco - Lonestar Adventure Race ™

Eco-Lonestar (2-4 Hour Adventure Race): 2 person teams will be challenged on a marked course by 9-14 miles mountain biking, 2-4 miles trail running, and mystery events. Race will last 2-3 hours.
Eco-Lonestar Extreme (8-12 Hour Adventure Race): 3 person teams will be challenged by 15-25 miles mountain biking, 3-6 miles canoeing, 8-15 miles land navigation/trekking, and possible mystery events. Extreme racers must bring their own boats, paddles and life jackets. (IF YOU NEED A BOAT, call Austin Kayak at 512-719-4386. Mention Terra Firma Adventure Race Group and get a discount. If they get a minimum of 10 racers renting, they will deliver and pick up from race. Othewise, you will need to pick up at store.) Race will last 8-12 hours. Categories include: Male, female, coed, coed masters, unofficial team of 2, and unofficial team of 4 divisions.
Winning Extreme Coed team will receive $500.00 towards their teams entry fee into the 2010 USARA Adventure Race National Championship ($400 from Terra Firma Promotions & $100 from other sponsors). Top 3 Extreme Coed teams qualify for the 2010 USARA Adventure Race National Championships.

Eco Lonestar Basic = $75 per person / $150 per team
Eco Lonestar Extreme = $120 per person / $360 per team

**Teams should pre-register for Extreme Race so we have enough map sets printed up. Call for registration after February 27th, 2010 to make sure we have enough maps if you are not preregistered. Teams doing the short course may late register.
General Information

Eco-Lonestar Extreme (8-12 Hour Adventure Race): Teams of 3 members will mountain bike, trail run and paddle. Extreme Teams may use their own boats, paddles, and PFDs. Extreme Teams will receive topo maps. The check points will be given in the form of UTM's or teams may copy marked maps but receive a time penalty.

ECO-LONESTAR EXTREME 3 PERSON TEAM: REQUIRED GEAR LIST
Any combination of boats to hold 3 people, 3 Type III Non-Inflatable Coast Guard Approved Life Jackets, (IF YOU NEED A BOAT, call Austin Kayak at 512-719-4386. Mention Terra Firma Adventure Race Group and get a discount. If they get a minimum of 10 racers renting, they will deliver and pick up from race. Othewise, you will need to pick up at store.) 3 Mountain Bikes, 3 Biking Helmets Method of carrying at least 50 oz. of water per person (recommend camelbaks) 1 Whistle, Food & water, 2 Compasses, 1 UTM Ruler (1:24,000 scale), 1 Space Blanket, 10 feet Duct Tape, writing pen or pencil. ALSO NEED BIKE LIGHT FOR EACH BIKE AND RED BLINKY FOR REAR OF BIKE.

Race check in & starting time
Teams can check in at the race site on Friday March 5, 2010 between 6:00pm – 7:30pm & Saturday March 6, 2010 between 5:30am-6:15am. Pre race meeting is at 6:30am, both races start at 7:00 am
There will be a central transition area where teams can set up a camp. During the race the teams will pass through this area several times making it possible to reload on food, water, change clothes, etc. Teams may have assistance crews in the transition area to prepare food, etc. The transition area is the only location in which the assistance crews may aid the team. There are several legs in this race including mountain biking, trekking and paddling for extreme teams. There are no water stations along the course. Teammates must remain in visual contact with each other at all times. Extreme teams will be provided with topographic maps & will use a compass to navigate to the respective check points during the navigation legs. The course will be marked for the single track biking leg. The paddling is on a lake. If a team member drops out the remaining team members may continue as an unofficial team, and all members who complete the course will receive a finishing award.

Directions & Lodging
From Austin: (travel time = approx 45 minutes)
Travel west on US Hwy 290 for 32 miles from I-35, then north on FM3232 for 6 miles. When the road comes to a “T” at RR-2766/CR-201 jog east (right) for 100 meters and then turn north (left) onto the park road. Drive about 2 ½ miles until you reach the park headquarters. Follow the signs from there.
From Dallas/Fort Worth: (travel time = approx 3 hours 30 minutes)
Travel south on I-35 to Austin and then follow the directions from Austin.
* HINT * You will save some time if you take Loop 1, the MO Pac Expressway, down the west side of Austin to reach US Hwy 290 instead of going through town on I-35. You can reach Loop 1 by taking exit #250B off of I-35 to the right and driving west on SR-45 Toll Road for 20 miles. Then take Loop 1 to the south. When you head west on US Hwy 290 from the junction with Loop 1 you will travel almost 25 miles to reach FM 3232.
From Houston: (travel time = approx 3 hours 15 minutes)
Travel west on I-10 to Columbus. Take exit #695 and turn right on SR-71 West towards La Grange/Austin. Continue on SR-71 and when you reach Austin-Bergstrom Airport SR-71 merges with US Hwy 290. Drive west on US Hwy 290 and when you reach I-35 follow the directions from Austin.
